The domestic RHI has now been launched after what might seem like an eternity. This is an exciting turn of events for the building services engineering sector and one which should provide an incentive for installers to train in associated technologies.
Logic Certification courses in solar thermal hot water and heat pumps (both ground and air source) are some of the only qualifications approved to meet the requirements of MCS. Available at locations throughout the UK, it is likely there's a Logic Certification approved centre not far from your business.
About the domestic RHI
The domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is the world's first long-term financial support programme for renewable heat, and is open to everyone - home owners, social and private landlords, and people who build their own homes. Recipients will receive cash back for renewable heat produced over a seven year period, designed to cover the cost of installing the technology in the first place. In some instances, end users may even make money.
Technologies covered:
- Heat pumps: Both ground and air source. As air source heat pumps are likely to be the most popular technology, suitable for most homes, Logic Certification has introduced an air source only heat pump course. Click here for details.
- Solar thermal
- Biomass
Only one space heating system is allowed per property but homeowners can apply for solar thermal and a space heating system. To apply for the domestic RHI and find out more, visit: www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/domestic-renewable-heat-incentive
