Could your centre and learners help plug the skills gap within the electrical industry? Our ever-expanding range of electrical qualifications offers both existing operatives and new entrants the opportunity to develop their business and make a positive impact on their career.
Starter’s orders
Firstly, anyone looking to break into the electrical sector is required, by law, to have knowledge of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and how they apply to Part P, which relates to domestic electrical installations. It is also an essential qualification for those looking to become members of any Part P Competent Persons Schemes (CPS).
We offer specific 17th Edition training, which is suitable for operatives for whom electrical work is their primary occupation or for heating installers, bathroom and kitchen fitters, etc, who will be carrying out electrical related tasks.
There are no pre-requisites for our Level 3 QCF 17th Edition courses, but some experience of electrical installations is required. The course involves classroom based training, focusing on the Wiring Regulations standard BS7671:2008 (2015) 3rd Amendment. At the end of the course, operatives will complete a two hour online assessment made up of multiple choice questions.
Encourage upskilling
Heating engineers or plumbers may decide to make the leap and opt for a career switch to become an electrician. In which case, it is essential that your centre offers our New Entrant Domestic Electrical Installer Course, designed to equip learners with all core competencies needed to become a fully qualified electrician, including Part P, 17th Edition, Initial Verification, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installation, which will then enable they to join a CPS.
2016 could be the year that we see learners choosing to diversify their business, looking to offer their customers a complete package of skills rather than the traditional route of keeping skills and trades separate; make sure you offer more choice and the flexible learning routes that are set to be in high demand!
