LCL centres benefit from CPD sessions

Logic Certification is currently running a series of CPD workshops across the country for LCL certified centres. The workshops are designed to provide useful information on industry updates and best practice. The first two workshops have now taken place and have been very well received.

Updates to Guidance Note 8

The first session, held on 16th January, was on recent revisions to the training requirements for all new entrants to the gas industry as well as those already qualified, but wishing to broaden their scope of Gas Safe Registration. The object of the day was to ensure that centres understand and apply the newly published industry guidance (ACS Guidance Note 8) to their training.

Jonathon Carney, Centre Manager at Midlands Gas Assessments said;

The event gave everyone a good understanding of the new updates; an opportunity to ask questions and a valuable opportunity to discuss any issues relating to the guidance’.

The event was facilitated by First Choice Group Training Limited at their excellent new facility in the West Midlands.

Understanding Apprenticeships

Last week, the second workshop took place at Energy & Utility Skills in Solihull. This session entitled: An Introduction to Gas engineering & Dual Fuel Smart Metering Apprenticeships, was well attended by delegates from a number of LCL centres who were invited to contribute to the session with their own experience and questions.

- As well as an update from E&UIAS, the session covered a variety of topics including:

- Register of Approved Training Provider (RoATP) - How to register to deliver apprenticeships

- An overview of the Gas Engineering apprenticeship standard and end-point assessment

- Dual Fuel Smart Metering – an overview of the apprenticeship standard, end-point assessment & NSAP approval process

- Technical Assessor recruitment process

- Feedback from those who were there was excellent and delegates enjoyed the opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals and share best practice.

Mark McShane, MD of Skills Training Group was impressed with what he saw:

“The seminar delivered yesterday was very informative and will be a great help for us with progressing apprenticeships.  I think the training centres that missed this opportunity will regret not coming along, once they realise the potential these session offer.”

The rest of the CPD programme runs through to early Mach.

Most of the workshops are almost fully booked – there is very limited spaces left for delegates fro for LCL Approved Centres only.

Please get in touch with Tracy Harker if you are interested in booking. Information on the rest of the programme will be available in an updated e-shot this week
