LCL centres, have you got your ticket for the National Forum yet?

Tickets for our annual National Forum in July are going well. If you’ve not signed up for one yet, here are some of the reasons we think you should join us:

2018 Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards for private landlords

As from 1 April 2018, Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) will apply to domestic and non-domestic private landlords in England & Wales.

New IGEM document replaces Gas Safe Register’s GUISP

This month (March 2018), Gas Safe Register has withdrawn Edition 7.1 of The Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure (GUISP), setting out procedures for visual risk assessments of gas appliances. It has been replaced by a new document published by the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) called IGEM/G/11.

The Hot Water Industry Council’s consumer guide to boiler servicing

In order to address current concerns about the standard of work carried out by some gas installers, the Heating and Hot Water Industry Council (HHIC) has published a leaflet aimed at consumers, laying out what they should expect when they are having their gas boiler serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

The Gas Safe Register’s Technical Bulletin (TB) 118 provides guidance on the necessary safety precautions to take when preparing appliances for work – specifically their electrical isolation.  The document sets out the procedures involved in isolating the electrical connections of equipment and stresses that it is important that the person carrying out the work is competent.

XAMS – A bright future for assessment

We have adopted a system of computer-based assessments called XAMS, which offers our centres greater flexibility and their learners a user-friendly interface for taking exams. We are looking  for more centres to take up what is proving to be a secure and hassle-free means of assessment for a growing number of LCL qualifications.

GET gets on board with Gas Auditing

Last September, Logic Certification (LCL) launched two new qualifications for those with responsibilities for auditing gas businesses. One of the first approved centres to deliver the new qualifications was GET (Gas Educational Training) in Glasgow.  It’s first group of Gas Auditing Learners attained the Level 3 Award in Auditing a Gas Business at the end of November.  Most of these learners are now working towards the second qualification in Auditing a Gas Business’s Work Management Procedures.
