Developing qualifications for social housing sector
26 Oct 2017Logic Certification has been working with Morgan Lambert, a company based in Yorkshire, to produce two specialist Gas Auditing courses specifically for the social housing sector.
Morgan Lambert, recognised as one of the industry’s most experienced gas safety management consultants, provides third party audit services for Social Housing Providers in order to ensure compliance with Landlord Duties and regulatory codes, as offers training in gas safety. They were keen for Logic Certification to produce high level, accredited training courses in gas auditing to complement the LCL gas safety courses, detailed below, which they already run.
The Level 2 Award: Gas Safety Awareness in Social Housing: Gives non-technical staff an understanding of the technical aspects of gas so that they can assist with enquiries and understand terminology they may encounter in handling Landlord Gas Safety Records, repairs documentation and technical reports. For details, click here.
The Level 4 Award: Gas Safety Management in Social Housing: For Social Housing staff who manage or oversee work on gas appliances. This Level 4 course covers all aspects of gas safety and leads to a nationally recognised RQF qualification accredited by Logic certification. For information, click here.
Lloyd Fountain works for Property Plus, supporting a large housing association in Saffordshire and recently attended the Level 4 Gas Safety Management in Social Housing course at Morgan Lambert. He manages the boiler installation team and took the course to gain the qualification and to better understand issues relating to gas safety for his staff and the tenants they serve.
“Our gas engineers shoulder a great deal of responsibility every day, installing and upgrading systems," said Lloyd. "It’s important we fully understand the compliance regulations and now I have taken this course, I feel more confident that I will be able to identify poor working practices and possible on-site dangers and work out ways to address them.”
David Wilkinson, recently appointed Gas Manager for Property Plus, the contracting arm of Housing Plus Group, attended the same course. “The course formed part of my job application and helped secure my position”
Both Lloyd and David expressed their interest in LCL’s new Gas Auditing courses that would offer the same in-depth access to review procedures.
The auditing courses designed by LCL offer the very best training to equip staff with the knowledge they require to undertake robust checks. The first, a Level 3 Award in Auditing of Gas Work, provides candidates with the knowledge to plan for and conduct an audit and to write up reports and recommendations afterwards. Candidates will be shown how to identify work that is incorrect, incomplete or unsafe.
The second course, a Level 3 Award in Auditing of a Gas Business's Work Management Procedures, is aimed at those in a managerial role who need to audit a business’s working practices. Covering the same areas as the Auditing of Gas Work course, relating to safety and reporting, it focuses on a business’s procedures. The course looks at best practice for recruiting and monitoring staff performance as well as requirements for staff safety, training and work allocation. It covers guidance for customer care - particularly useful for those working in the public housing sector when customers may require more consideration.
The two new Gas Auditing qualifications are available at Logic Certification approved centres throughout the UK, including Morgan Lambert.
