Consultation for low carbon heating and heat pump qualifications

08 Jun 2020

LCL Awards is one of a number of industry representatives* involved in a consultation about the future of low carbon heating and the training needed to meet building decarbonisation targets.

We would like all LCL Awards centres and their customers to complete the two surveys which will help inform two new qualifications – an introductory qualification on low carbon heating and one specifically regarding heat pumps.

The deadline for contributions is 5pm on the 30th June.

We would appreciate that you encourage your customers to get involved and share the consultation information on your websites and social media channels.

Take the surveys:

Proposed new qualification for low carbon heating, led by The CIPHE – introductory qualification covering all forms of Low Temperature Heating Systems, from heat pumps to efficient high performance gas condensing boilers.

Proposed new qualification for heat pumps, led by The Heat Pump Association – covering the installation, servicing and maintenance of air and ground source heat pumps.

Heat and Buildings Strategy

The Government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy is due to be published later this year, this will set out plans to reduce emissions from buildings.

With energy efficiency and low carbon heating key to this strategy, the UK needs suitably trained installers to meet the demand, creating potentially more opportunities for LCL Awards centres.

As LCL Awards is involved in the consultation process, we will be at the forefront of delivering these new qualifications.

Please have your say on the future of our industry.
