Logic Certification’s series of new year CPD workshops has now wrapped up. Attendees were given the opportunity to explore different topics and feedback on the support that LCL provides, at a variety of locations.

We’ve already blogged about the first sessions, here’s a summary of the others:

EQA audit and IQA

First Group Training in Staffordshire hosted two of the workshops. The first, on preparing for an External Quality Audit (EQA), gave the inside track on what to expect prior to and during an annual audit conducted by an LCL External Verifier (EV). This was a lively session with delegates contributing lots of questions and keen to understand the process.

The second workshop was designed to dispel some of the myths about Internal Quality Auditing (IQA). Tracy Harker (LCL Quality Assurance Manager) led practical sessions on completing the relevant documentation and reviewing sections of the Quality Management System (QMS) that can be challenging to centre staff.

QMS, IV and IQA

The next two workshops were held at the National Conference Centre in the West Midlands – the site of our forthcoming Annual Forum in June.  The first, on 27^th Feb focused om LCL’s QMS. Tracy Harker and Neill OVenden (LCL EV) led attendees through the QMS and related documentation - attendees left with a full copy of the LCL QMS.

The following day, there was a collaborative workshop on Internal Verification (IV)/Internal Quality Auditing (IQA) Best Practice – a popular topic. The day was useful for both attendees and LCL staff, who discussed ways to streamline the processes and the documentation involved. An IQA plan was discussed and designed. There were some excellent ideas shared and those who attended found it really worthwhile.

MLP

The final workshop ran at both NCC and the Premier Meetings in Bradford and examined LCL’s Managed Learning Programme (MLP) and Approved Centre Standardisation, led by Steve Mulvany (LCL Scheme Director) Tracy Harker and James Livingstone (EV and and Technical Specialist). Centres were encouraged to bring example portfolios with them for review. The processes that should be followed for MLP certification were discussed and it has been decided that LCL will now audit MLPs separately, to ensure LCL approved centres have more support. 

The series of workshops has been of great benefit to both attendees from centres around the country and LCL. We are always keen to listen to our centres and improve communication and our services wherever we can.
