LCL Awards’ Level 2 NVQ Diploma in the Installation and Maintenance of Plumbing and Heating Systems has been recognised by JIB-PMES as a suitable supporting qualification for the CSCS Plumber Blue Card Scheme, putting the qualification firmly on the plumbing map.

Further recognition by UK water companies and WIAPS for the Approved Plumber Scheme adds credence to the awarding body’s new qualification, which was launched last year to provide an entry-level route into the plumbing and heating sector.

Steve Mulvany from LCL Awards, who was closely involved in the development of the qualification, said:

“LCL Awards’ new plumbing qualification has been designed to provide learners with the knowledge and crucially, the experience, needed to work in the sector.  The qualification equips learners with the expertise and knowledge and skills to install and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems in accordance with current legislation, regulations and industry standards.

“We are delighted to receive industry recognition for this qualification, making it a really useful option for would-be plumbers looking to hit the ground running and win work on sites where a CSCS card and Approved Plumber status is required.”

The JIB-PMES CSCS blue card scheme provides assurance that plumbers and heating engineers, are recognised for the knowledge, trade skills and qualifications they possess.  The water companies’ and WIAPS approved plumbing scheme run through Water Safe is similar, listing approved plumbers and businesses in order to maintain high standards and compliance with the water regulations.

For learners who do not have ready access to on-site work experience, LCL Awards provides a Level 2 Diploma-only plumbing qualification, which is designed to provide the underpinning skills required to prepare for entry into the workplace and onward progression to achieving their NVQ.

For those plumbers who hold a plumbing qualification and wish to achieve a L2 NVQ Diploma in order to apply for a JIB- PMES blue plumber’s card or achieve Approved Plumber status, LCL Awards has an experienced worker route available, where prior achievement is taken into account.
