New low energy heating qualification from LCL Awards launched at industry webinar
17 Feb 2022
Mark Krull, Director of LCL Awards, recently joined Jerry Whiteley, Technical Manager of CIPHE, Martyn Bridges, Technical Director of Worcester Bosch and Mark Wilkins, Technology and Training Director for Vaillant in a webinar delivered as part of Installer Magazine's Net Zero Festival. The session was about LCL Awards’ Level 3 Award in Low Temperature Heating and Hot Water Systems, which has recently launched.
With the rise in under-floor heating and growing popularity of heat pumps, low temperature heating and hot water systems are becoming increasingly common. LCL Awards’ qualification has been designed to help professional heating engineers familiarise themselves with the appropriate technologies. The Awarding Organisation has worked closely with the heating industry over the last two years to design an accredited qualification to support engineers in successfully delivering the heating systems of the future.
Accessible learning
The webinar session starts with a comprehensive introduction to the course from CIPHE’s Jerry Whiteley, who examines the qualification in detail. It’s a digital course designed for blended learning and covers both new-build and the retro-fitting of older properties. It has been designed to comply with all British heating standards.
The course is particularly user-friendly and features a number of specially produced nomographics to simplify the necessary calculations to ensure that low temperature heating systems provide the warmth and hot water they should.
Following a detailed examination of the course units and a walk-through of a number of examples, there’s a Q&A session, which covers information on how the course can be accessed, the CPD opportunities it offers and the proposed costs etc.
Mark Krull explains:
“Initially the course can be accessed through manufacturers, but it will soon be available nationally through our network of accredited private training companies and colleges. We are very excited about this qualification which will help future-proof the careers of heating engineer across the UK and help provide homeowners with the means to heat their homes and water efficiently.”
