In response to a growing demand for electric vehicles, LCL Awards has developed a new EV charging qualification; Level 3 Award in the Installation and Commissioning of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial locations. The course has been introduced to help electricians take advantage of a marketplace that has grown significantly over recent years.
Following an audit of our MLP, carried out at our head office and at Moor Training over the summer, IGEM has deemed LCL Awards a Recogniser of training for new entrants training in the gas industry. We are only the second organisation to be given this status and are delighted to take on the role.
In a campaign launched during Gas Safety Week, IGEM’s Large Business Forum (LBF) is encouraging gas professionals to spread the word amongst fellow tradespeople of the dangers of interfering with existing gas installations when working in buildings. The Institution of Engineering and Technology (EIT) has announced a new amendment to BS 7671:2018 (IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition) to include Electric Vehicle Charging Installations.
It's Gas Safety Week 2019 and this year, the Gas Safe Register is focusing on keeping vulnerable groups safe as part of its campaign.

The Standards Consultation Forum (SCF), has recommended to Gas Safe Register’s the Strategic Management Board (SMB) that candidates undertaking ACS assessment be required to demonstrate their competence in safe electrical isolation of appliances and equipment.
On the 13th June we hosted our annual National Forum for delegates from approved centres across the country. The event was at a new venue this year, the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, which provided us with better facilities and more space.
